Idaho Balsam Fir

Hello! I am Irene! With knowledge, there is empowerment, so here I am to share with you my oily experiences! For more of my posts, please check out my Facebook page!

It is like bringing the whole forest of fir trees to your little bottle. Though I am clueless as to how an actual fir tree smell like, taking a whiff of Balsam Fir gives me that feeling that I have always known the alpine forest.

With many oils out there, why do we need Balsam Fir?

Because it improves the efficiency of a healthy lung. We know the importance of deep breathing – to increase oxygen in our body for optimal wellness. My mom works in the library and she pushes trolleys of books and rushes around to arrange the books in order. The weight and the mountain of books to arrange leaves her exhausted and breathless at the end of every working day. Her TCM physician said she is just stressed. When we are rushing day to day, we do not breathe as deeply. After giving my mom Balsam Fir, it helps her to relax as well as supports her lungs to function more efficiently when she is burnt out at work.

When my boys recover from coughs, I will apply Balsam Fir to maintain their well-being by improving the breathing. On top of supporting the respiratory system, it soothes my over-worked muscles from dancing and chores. It has also eased my lower back ache due to Aunt Flow.

The refreshing woody scent is the reason why I always feel calm and grounded whenever I use on the boys or myself, just like being in nature.

Its scent is also the reason why it can uplift my spirits on a moody day.

As I inhale and write this, I am compelled to do deep breathing exercises just before I retire for the night. Goodnight!

Juniper for Lungs and Kidneys

Hello! I am Irene! With knowledge, there is empowerment, so here I am to share with you my oily experiences! For more of my posts, please check out my Facebook page!

This baby in the photo. #heartmelts My number 2, he’s why I started using YLEO more than 2 years ago. He’s turning 4 very soon. ❤️

son

You see, he is prone to respiratory conditions. Too often, to the point of exasperation.

This journey has gotten me to delve into the topic of body systems as they are integrated as one and balanced as whole. In certain situations, the supporting of lung function on its own will be good enough. However, for recurring conditions, it is worth a good look into the other core organs (heart, kidneys, liver, spleen) as they are interlinked.

From my observations and listening to my gut as his mommy, I know I need to support his kidney functions as part of immunity building. Therefore, on top of using oils to support his respiratory function, I add Juniper to the oiling regime. Juniper is a detoxifier for the kidneys. By bolstering normal kidney health, they will work in sync with lungs to grasp Qi. #breathedeeply

Juniper oil reeks of poorly-dried clothes to me but it works great for my little one, so hold my breath and oil on. #ineedthisoil

I’m Out Of RC!!

Hello! I am Irene! With knowledge, there is empowerment, so here I am to share with you my oily experiences! For more of my posts, please check out my Facebook page!

What was the first oil that you were recommended for respiratory support? … RC, most likely! Every Young Living user loves it, I am sure. I love it! But, hey, believe it or not, in my 21 months of usage, I have only used 1 bottle of RC and a second bottle is hardly touched. And I am a heavy oil user when it relates to respiratory function.

It is common to hear “RC is the only one that helps”. When RC went out of of stock, there was disappointment and a mad rush to stock up or to get from any available source. RC becomes a coveted oil. Today, it is not uncommon to get a few bottles on standby.

RC is a great blend and so is every single and blend that Young Living has to offer. In my humble opinion, keep calm and choose alternatives for respiratory function.

Here are some oils I have used in place of RC very regularly on my boys which in turn, double up as oils for my self-care routine:

Basil

  • For boys: It supports immune and respiratory functions
  • For me: It helps me to detox.

Copaiba

  • For boys: It magnifies other oils and supports the throat function.
  • For me: I consume it daily in my water or Ningxia Red as a dietary supplement.

Cypress

  • For boys: It improves lung efficiency
  • For me: It promotes circulation and I use it nightly for dark eye circles.

Dorado Azul

  • For boys: It opens airways to support normal breathing.
  • For me: It heightens my spiritual awareness together with Hyssop for meditation.

Goldenrod

  • For boys: It supports throat function.
  • For me: It spice up the bedroom when needed. Ahem. 😉

Idaho Balsam Fir

  • For boys: It supports lung capacity.
  • For me: It soothes backache due to monthly women issues.

Ocotea

  • For boys: It is similar to Copaiba.
  • For me: It supports my digestive system and regulates normal blood sugar levels.

I am sure you know of many more oils that you can use to replace RC and for yourself too! Have a great evening!

German Chamomile

Hello! I am Irene! With knowledge, there is empowerment, so here I am to share with you my oily experiences! For more of my posts, please check out my Facebook page!

There are some oils which I will replenish often. German Chamomile is one of them. It’s not one of those pleasant smelling oils around but I have come to like it.

German Chamomile has a beautiful blue colour which is from the compound, chamazulene, studied for its ability to support the body’s natural response to irritation. Therefore, it dispels heat from the body. When a person is full of anger or rage, it stores in the liver. In TCM viewpoint, it is liver fire. Our livers work hard to release toxins so I use German Chamomile to support the liver function, at the same time, releasing stored negative emotions that may be trapped.

German Chamomile supports healthy skin too. Its calming effects not only relaxes me spiritually, it calms my skin and my boys’. Sometimes, we get little itchy bumps akin to detox rashes or occasional irritation from the environment. Lungs and skin are related and when my 3-year-old is coughing, his skin tends to be sensitive.

And there was once a fly brushed my cheek (Eeks)! Of all things, I had to have an “accident” with a fly. German Chamomile soothes my itch very quickly!

So, whenever someone needs skin support, I will suggest German Chamomile. Because whenever I apply it and seal it with Rose Ointment, the results were truly amazing.

Joy

Hello! I am Irene! With knowledge, there is empowerment, so here I am to share with you my oily experiences! For more of my posts, please check out my Facebook page!

In my early days of oiling, Joy was precious to me ’cause I finally bought an oil for myself after spending solely on my boys. I found great pleasure just by inhaling directly from bottle and bringing it around in my oil pouch but rarely applied. >.<

It was roughly more than a year ago when I was 99.999999% successful in weaning my second child from breast milk. One day, I went out for an “oily” event. Before I left the house, I was upset due to helper’s attitude. Intuitively and for the first time, I applied Joy over my heart wanting to let go whatever it was that angered me and to feel joyous again.

Hours later, I was still with my friends when I started to feel a sensation in my left breast… #whatsonyourmind

… I was experiencing milk letdown! It was totally unexpected! While my friend was yakking away, I felt the trickling underneath my blouse. #OMG

Haha, I am a little shy to say… not only milk was flowing, I was also in the mood for… you know. Well, that night, it was so hard keeping a poker face listening to my friend talking and struggling with bodily reactions. #blush

It was later on I discovered Joy can boost sex drive. It brings on feelings of loved and being loved, relaxation. No wonder that night was like floodgates opened. In the end, Joy stayed home during the weaning period.

Irene’s Top 3 Oils

Hello! I am Irene! With knowledge, there is empowerment, so here I am to share with you my oily experiences! For more of my posts, please check out my Facebook page!

This is a transcript of the video done on the Let’s Add Oil FB group with Facebook Live on the 22nd of April. Original video link here!

I’ve been tagged to do this live video on the top 3 oils I can’t do without! This is such a hard decision because I love everything from Young Living. Let’s get this going! It’s my virgin video!

The first oil that I can’t do without is Progessence Phyto Plus (PPP), I use this to balance my hormones, to support my menstrual flow. This is embarrassing to share on social media, but I’ve been experiencing heavy flows since my younger days, and that doesn’t feel good. Why am I always going to the toilet to change.. TMI!

When I first started on PPP, I applied it down the sides of my neck, on the front of my neck, on my ankles to ease the flow and help me to PMS less. I’ve always been moody and snappy with my husband. My poor husband had to endure it for quite a while before this came along..

After using this, I’m a lot more energetic, I’ve more energy to get through my day during the cycle and my menstrual flow is a lot more manageable. Recently, I posted about how I used it before my holiday, and I didn’t have to worry about going to the toilet too often and I could enjoy my holiday in bikini haha.

The next oil is Cypress! This oil is about circulation, to get everything moving. When I first started using this, it was mainly for my boys’ respiratory systems as they tend to get irritations here and there. I use this for lung support and immunity for them.

For myself, I use this to ease my menstrual flow as well. I’ve been using this before I started on PPP, then I used it together with PPP. After that, I learnt that this oil is great to manage dark eye circles. I always sleep very late, so I get eye bags and eye circles. I apply Cypress around my eye bone with circular motions and I actually wake up the next day looking alright! I was really surprised when I tried it for the first time! I’m not advocating sleeping late but if I happen to sleep late and still want to look good the next day, I will apply Cypress. And viola the next day, I will look fine!

Also, if you’ve been weeping while watching dramas, you know that you’ll get water retention around the eye area and get eye bags? Apply Cypress and you will be ready for work the next day.

Oh oh, and you know how Cypress is for circulation right? Our body needs good circulation! Not only has this oil helped me to pee more, it has also helped to bring blood to a very important area.. You know.. In the bedroom? Heh heh this oil is an oil that we use very often 🙂 Now now, don’t snatch up all the Cypress okay!

The next oil is Peppermint! Peppermint brings down the temperature, you know how hot it has been these few days?! This is an oil I must bring out because I tend to get giddy in taxis, especially if I’m rushing from place to place on an empty stomach. I get motion sickness and I need something to help myself feel better. I can’t use anything that will irritate the driver so I will use Peppermint to perk me up. I will apply it on my tummy, behind my ears and I will feel better. Especially how you know how some drivers can drive very jerkily, oh my goodness, I would have thrown up. So thankful for Peppermint, it feels good and smells good! It also starts up a conversation with the driver, and sometimes before I even mention anything, they know I’m using essential oils.

So these are the 3 oils that I love very much! Thank you for your time, see you next time! Bye bye!

Let’s Sweat It Out!

Hello! I am Irene! With knowledge, there is empowerment, so here I am to share with you my oily experiences! For more of my posts, please check out my Facebook page!

Little one is down with stomach flu since Tuesday and he has poor appetite. It is a challenge to feed everything and out it comes like the Merlion. To make it worse, his tonsils have become swollen, is coughing badly and running a fever that has been very persistent.

On today’s menu, it is nutrient-dense and hearty Carrot Ginger Soup as he has not been eating much. #vegan #paleo #MeatFreeDay

As ginger is warming, it helps to detox through perspiration. I added lots of ginger and top it off with Ginger essential oil to increase the spiciness! Ooh la la!!

Although it was too spicy for my 3.5-year-old, he polished his bowl clean and had a good cleanse thereafter. 😉 Happy mommy!

Let’s sweat it out!
